polly brings up an excellent conversational piece.
golden compass movie, yah or nah. first off, i love how everyone's talking about how it another 'narnia' christmas movie. which is laughable cuz pullman is a die-hard atheist who loathed the narnia books. so it's a pretty fucken anti-christmas, anti-christianity, anti-catholic movie, especially when the big bad corporation is called the magisterium (the word that catholics use to describe the pope and his teachings). that's all pretty entertaining this holiday season.
but the movie. well, i wasn't 'thused by the portrayal of the "polar bear," Iorek Byrnison. blech. and nicole kidman is so often sink or swim (most often sink i have to admit). interesting to see what dakota richards will do as lyra.
i like this part, "Dakota later said she found out about the auditions watching BBC Newsround, and that she wouldn’t have gone to them if it had rained." good thing it didn't rain.
